Flowers in bloom

Just playing around a bit with my camera over the last month or so. I love all of the flowers around my house and neighborhood so I took a few shots one afternoon.
In my front yard...

Obviously not a flower, but still pretty!

These flowers were in a neighbor's yard...

The rest of these shots were taken at the San Diego Zoo.  I wanted to take many more, but there were too many people around and lots of cute animals to see.

These Calla Lillies were gorgeous!  They just caught my eye as we walked by one of the ponds with birds/ducks swimming around.

I don't like the  set-up of this shot so much, but still a nice new angle for the flower.

I love how they step-up as you go left to right

playing with perspective/ F-stop settings.  higher F-stop to get a more overall focus

smaller F-stop for a more blurred background

...and just across from the Lillies...

a happy bee working away...I wish I could have focused a little better on him, but alas this is all I got!

I don't even remember taking this one =)
I hope you enjoyed!

  2. I need a new camera. What kind do you have? I want something that will take nice pictures but won't break the bank.

  3. Sorry for not getting back to you...I have a Canon Rebel T1i DSLR. It's around $600, so a little pricey. There are some good ones that aren't DSLR but much better then the typical point-and-shoot. They are in the $2-300 range.
