5 months

Babbling, squeals of delight, laughter, playing with her feet, reaching and grabbing for things.  All of these and more have started happening this month.  She is so close to rolling over as well.  Our little 5 month old is changing so much, we love spending every moment we can just playing with her and watching her change.

Her 5 month stats are:  13 pounds, 13 ounces and 25 inches tall.  This last month she changed over from her size 1 diapers to size 2. She is still fitting in 0 - 3 month clothes, but some 3 - 6 months are starting to fit.

Before I get to the 5 month pics, I wanted to share a few others from a few days ago.

Here is Kalea adoring her dad, and vice versa.
This last weekend my parents and sister came down to go to the Angels/Padres game.  It was a great evening, except for the Angels losing.  Here is a shot of my sister, Kalea, Pat, and my mom going down after the game.

And now here are the 5 month shots.  Enjoy!

My first Mother's Day!

People can tell you over and over again how special a feeling it is to be a mother, but it really truly can only be understood once you finally are a mother.  I am so grateful for the wonderful gift that Kalea has been so far in these first few months of her life.  I am so excited to see what she becomes as she grows up, of course I don't want to see that happen any time soon.

We had a wonderful day as we were able to relax and spend it with my family.  Kalea bought me a beautiful necklace that was completely a surprise.  She did a great job helping Daddy pick it out.  We also were able to enjoy a delicious brunch at our favorite restaurant, Taps, in Corona.  When we got home, we decided to use the beautiful day and take some family shots to commemorate the day.

 Such a cutie!
 Hi Grampa!!!
Love this shot of the three of them.
These next few aren't from Mother's Day, but I wanted to share them with you since I am a proud Momma!

Here she is rockin' the tank onesie
Such beautiful blue eyes...as my brother would say, they are staring right into your soul!
This past month, Kalea has taken to sticking her legs straight out and then bringing them back in.  I luckily was able to catch them in action.  I also wanted to mention that she is laying on a nice little surprise gift she received from my Aunt Lori.  It is a tied quilt and very much appreciated!
She has also started to grab things and is working on holding them with both hands.
She has started teething and is trying to put anything she can in her mouth, though she tends to lose grip on most things besides blankets and eventually will lose it going to her mouth.
 Happy Mother's Day!!!

This and That with Kalea

This last month we have enjoyed watching as our little girl continues to grow and grow.  She is now 5 months, but before I get to that post I wanted to share what has happened recently.

We love reading to Kalea, and she loves to listen to all kinds of stories.  This book is one I bought from my cousin Natalie to help raise money for a local animal shelter near her in Massachusetts.  It is called "Toto the Tornado Kitten."
We keep working with Kalea to help her get stronger and stronger. She is still struggling a bit with using her arms to hold herself up, but she is getting better.
Since her 4 month appointment, we have been spending more time with her as she bounces and steps joyfully.  She really loves stepping on our bellies and stomping her feet at our cats.
Her hair is still pretty fair, but it is growing in super fast!  This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago and there is actually hair to be seen in the light!  Her hair is at least twice as long in some places now.  Pretty soon we will get to put more then just hair bands on her head.
Love her to pieces!
Caught a great smile finally
My two loves exhausted after a long day.  This is how most nights end up, in fact as I write this, they are in this exact same position next to me.
So I finally finished the tree in her room.  To see the before click here and you can see how it came about.  All I have to do is figure out which picture I want to put in the beehive and I will be all set.

Kalea surrounded by her stuffed animals.  She isn't quite ready to sleep in her crib, or maybe that is me who is not ready for her to.  Either way she enjoys hanging out in there every once in a while when we need to get something done.
And finally, our end of the night routine isn't complete without story time.  Here is Daddy and Kalea reading from Winnie-the-Pooh a few nights ago.

Last of the month 4 pics

Before I moved on to sharing photos from her fifth month, I figured I would finish up with the last bit from her 4th month.  Before I forget, I wanted to mention that on her 4 month bday, she had her first laugh.  I was shopping with my mom and sister and just playing with her while she sat in her car seat.  I went closer to her face and said "Boo, Boo, Boo" really quick and she giggled at me.  I did it a couple more times and sure enough she laughed again.  It was the sweetest sound to hear.  Her poor Daddy had to miss it, but he soon got to hear it later that week.

Now on to some random pictures I wanted to share.

Here is Kalea enjoying every last second with MomMom and PopPop on the day we were leaving New Jersey.
Pat and I both love the Pop Shop in Collinswood.  We love to eat there at least once every time we visit.  Our problem is we usually make it there on the day we are leaving.  I think we need to change that up a bit or else Linda is really going to associate it only with sadness for the day we leave!  We also ate there the day we left to move to California.
Once we made it safely home we unpacked all of the wonderful clothes friends and family gave Kalea. We piled it up next to her and she really enjoyed looking at all of her wonderful new outfits!  Every one was so sweet to give her such wonderful things!
On one of our beautiful San Diego days, we decided to go for a family walk.  Since it was finally light enough out for some shades to be needed, we put on her new glasses from her MomMom.  She is so cute in them!  She owns 3 pairs of glasses and isn't even 5 months old yet!
A week after her first Phillies game in Philadelphia, we went to two more games as they played against our new home team, the San Diego Padres.  Here she is hanging with her Dad as we walk into the stadium.
Going for her first as she starts to teeth and needs more to chew on!
We had great seats for both the Thursday and Friday game.  The first night we were in row 12 just to the left of the Phillies dugout.  On Friday evening we were in the front row of the Pavilion section behind home plate!  Best seats I have ever had!
We have a happy Daddy since her winning streak continues, now 10 and 0 when Kalea goes to the game!
And finally, enjoying some Gramma time on her 4 month birthday.

First Phillies Game!

While we were visiting every one in New Jersey, we planned it out so that Kalea's first baseball game ever would be at a Phillies game.  To make it easier on the wallet, it also happened to be a dollar dog night.  So on Thursday, April 12th we ventured to Citizens Bank Park with MomMom and PopPop.

We had high hopes for the game since last season Kalea "went" to 7 Phillies games while she was growing nice and strong inside me and every game we went to was a victory.

Here we are on our way into the game, ready with our baby carriers and Kalea all decked out in her Phillies gear.  What you can't see is her wearing her Chase Utley baby jersey, but it is there!
I bet she can't wait until she can play in the Phillie Phanatic play area when she gets older!
It was of course a super chilly night at the ball game, luckily we were prepared.  It is also a good thing that Kalea is a nice little heat box when she is all snuggled up.  She was helping to keep me so warm while she was sleeping on me during the game.  Later in the evening we changed her into her nice warm pajamas so that she could be passed around without getting cold.  Here is a great shot with her wonderful Grandparents enjoying the game with her.
I absolutely love this shot with her MomMom.
Just for Kalea, Shane Victorino hit his first home run of the season at the game!  Luckily, I got a shot of the bell ringing after the hit.
Kalea celebrating the Phillies victory...now she is 8 and 0!
 Us celebrating as well!
It was such a great night.  We were so glad to share the experience with Linda and Dale.  The Phillies won 3 - 1 versus the Miami Marlins.  They are currently struggling, so I think we are very lucky to have gone to a victorious game.  Here is hoping their season turns around soon!
